This website was made possible with the support of TOLES.

TOLES stands for Test of Legal English skills and offers exams in legal English at 3 levels, allowing those who obtain certification to prove their knowledge in this important area of English.

Organisations that have entered candidates for the exams between 2001 – 2010 include:

  • The Law Society of England and Wales
  • The European Central Bank
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers
  • Daimler Chrysler
  • The European Court of Justice

TOLES certificates are also recognised by a number of leading law firms who recognise the value of a qualification that proves a candidates ability to cope with the complex authentic language in an international law firm.

As the certifications are driven by the needs of global law firms, the emphasis is put firmly on the most useful and relevant language necessary to succeed in such a context, for example, negotiating contracts or understanding company law.
